PORTRAYAL OF AUTISM IN ATYPICAL FILM: PRAGMATIC LANGUAGE IMPAIRMENT ANALYSIS

This study investigates the portrayal of autistic character in Atypical film seasons one and two through verbal non-verbal pragmatic language impairment analysis. The qualitative method theory mind by Attwood Stemmer Whitaker were employed research. found that made 320 impairments, including languages. For impairment, literal interpretations violation maxims frequently found, where repetitions often occurred. Other quite significant impairments monologue, odd prosody, echolalia. Besides, idiosyncratic speech was rarely used character. mainly utilized clumsy or gauche body language, followed limited use gesture facial expressions, inappropriate peculiar stiff gazes. These findings proved series represented as ASD sufferer with Asperger syndrome spectrum. Language greatly affected development thoughts how adjusted tone intonation speech. It challenging to control well, so communication disrupted.
